Speaker: Sarah Thomas
COO - Clear Seas

Sarah Thomas is a proud member of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation and serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Clear Seas. In her role, Sarah leads efforts to integrate Indigenous knowledge systems into marine research along Canada’s coasts, driving meaningful progress toward Reconciliation in the marine industry. Her work bridges traditional knowledge with contemporary practices, fostering collaboration across diverse communities to address barriers to Indigenous participation in the marine sector and the growing blue economy.

This presentation took place at ECO IMPACT 2025.

The session begins with a 40-minute presentation, followed by a 15-minute Q&A period.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, we recognize all Nations who live, work and play on this land and honour and celebrate this territory.
