Funding is the lifeblood of ocean sector projects—from conservation initiatives and research programs to innovation ventures and workforce development. But navigating the funding landscape, understanding funder priorities, and crafting proposals that stand out requires a specific and learnable set of skills.
This course provides a practical, end-to-end guide to proposal writing for ocean and coastal initiatives. This course focuses on the Canadian funding landscape, guiding learners through federal, provincial, and regional grant programs, eligibility requirements, and Indigenous-specific and sector-focused funding streams.
Learners will be introduced to tools including logic models, concept notes, and theories of change, and will draw practical lessons from real case studies—including what made successful proposals work, and what common mistakes to avoid.
