This five-module course introduces the environmental implications of artificial intelligence and provides sector-specific insights into its use for sustainable outcomes:

Module 1: What is AI in Environmental Contexts?

  • Understand the core terminology, systems, and use cases of AI in relation to environmental applications.

Module 2: Data-Driven Climate Risk Assessment

  • Learn how AI uses satellite and sensor data to model risks related to wildfires, floods, and droughts.

Module 3: AI for Environmental Monitoring and Assessment

  • Explore the role of AI in interpreting air, water, and land quality data for regulatory and sustainability purposes.

Module 4: Predictive Modelling and Sustainable Infrastructure Planning

  • Analyze how AI supports scenario planning, climate adaptation, and greener decision-making.

Module 5: Ethical, Social, and Governance Implications

  • Examine the risks, challenges, and governance considerations for using AI responsibly in environmental contexts.
