An Overview of GHG Emissions and Quantification
This webinar explained the main sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in commercial, industrial, and organizational settings and connected these emissions to their standard unit of measurement: tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. It outlined why organizations quantify emissions, whether for regulatory reporting or voluntary initiatives, and highlighted how each approach works in practice. The session also explores common reduction strategies and examples of GHG projects that support meaningful emissions mitigation.
Participants were introduced to major Canadian programs such as SDTC and Québec’s RDOCECA, along with key international standards including ISO 14064 (Parts 1–3), ISO 14065, ISO 14067, and the GHG Protocol. The webinar concluded with guidance on setting realistic emission-reduction targets and understanding what an effective reduction plan should include, offering practical insight for anyone involved in GHG reporting, carbon markets, or voluntary declarations.
