Chelsey Karbowski is the Owner and President of Mikjikj Mniku Consulting Ltd. and a Mi’kmaw (L’nu) woman from Indian Head First Nation in Newfoundland. With over a decade of experience in marine conservation and fisheries management, she specializes in fisheries policy, stakeholder engagement, and Indigenous rights advocacy. Grounded in the principle of Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing), Chelsey focuses on advancing sustainability, collaboration, and opportunities for Indigenous women across the fisheries and oceans sectors.

Executive Director - Nova Scotia Fisheries Sector Council

Lisa Fitzgerald is the Executive Director of the Nova Scotia Fisheries Sector Council with over 25 years of experience bridging the fishing industry and government. She has led numerous training initiatives in quality handling, human resources, and safety, and played a key role in establishing Nova Scotia’s fishing safety association and co-leading Fishing Safety Now. Most recently, she spearheaded the creation of the Fish Harvesters Registration and Certification Board of Nova Scotia, advancing professionalization and workforce development in the industry.
