Canada’s ocean economy is a hotbed for innovation. From autonomous underwater vehicles to AI-powered aquaculture monitoring systems, blue technology is transforming how we interact with and manage the ocean—and creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and changemakers across the sector.
This course introduces learners to Canada’s blue tech innovation ecosystem and the entrepreneurial process that drives it. Starting from ideation and moving through prototyping, testing, and commercialization, the course addresses the unique challenges and opportunities facing marine innovators. Learners will explore the role of accelerators, incubators, and clusters in supporting ocean startups, and will draw practical lessons from Canadian case studies of successful blue economy ventures.
