Have you ever been bothered by noise? Was it a neighbour’s radio? A freight train? A plane flying over? Road traffic? An industrial plant? There’s lots of noise out there, but noise is an often-misunderstood topic. Noise health effects and the influence it has on our day to day lives, well-being and the environment is a relatively unknown subject, but it is an increasingly important environmental consideration for development and operation of existing facilities and developments.
Noise is becoming increasingly linked to serious health effects. The World Health Organization (WHO) has listed environmental noise as the second largest environmental factor leading to a disease burden, second only to Air Quality. Increasing awareness of the importance of protecting against noise is key to giving it more prominence in the Canadian environmental sector.
In this webinar, Dan Clayton from SLR Consulting presents an introduction to noise management, providing a jargon free insight on assessment types in Canada, health effects and noise control measures.
